Default gauge wiring

Hi sorry if I am being thick, but i have wired up oil pressure and temp gauges and they are not showing correct readings. What type of wire is best from the senders to the gauge?

Thanks

Are the senders the same brand as the gauges (if bought secondhand)
Where did you fit the senders directly into the engine or an adapter ring between engine and filter?
The ring could need earthing, as the ring has a rubber seal which sometimes prevents the ring from being earted to the engine.
