When I disconnected the old wheel wiring ther were 2 plugs. one for airbag which i put resistor in to take out the airbag light and the one plug from the horn with 1 wire coming from it. The horn wire that came with the new boss is the same as the one in the old wheel.
Does the other connector on the back of the horn push need a wire to a negative earth? One didn't come with the boss kit.

Maybe the airbag wire provded a ground for the horn.
That piece sticking out the side is just a clip to hold the horn in place.
Take a spare piece of wire and connect it to the spare spade connector, and ground the other end of the wire - Then press the horn.

Thanks everyone for your help and replies but I have now managed to sort it.
The wiring that came with the works bell for the horn was faulty as when I tested it with my multimeter there was no current running through it. I have sorted it though because the wiring from the original steering wheel is the same as the one suplied in the works bell kit. The earth is the metal tag out the side of the horn push and it earths on the boss.
So happy its now sorted.
