Default Parcel shelf removal Classic Impreza?

Hi there, please could anybody tell me how to remove the top of the parcel shelf on my 1999 Classic Impreza? I am trying to gain access to the speakers!

Cheers, kind regards Alex.

Unbolt the rear seat and it's flexible enough to wiggle it out of the gap once the clips are popped. You can lift it up easy enough to get it free

Thank you for your help! How easy is it to remove the seats though? Do I need to remove the headrest part then? Do I have to remove all parts to the back seats?

Cheers, kind regards Alex.

Rear seat removal is easy. The seat bit comes out first - bolts on front down from the seat. Undo and remove. Then undo bolts at bottom of back and lift back off and job done! Five mins tops!

Two small points to take note of, in addition to the above:

Firstly, the seat BACK may need a knock upwards to help it come out, since it is held at the top by two pieces of 5mm horizontal wire which hook over a pair of hooks at the sides. They can rust slightly and it makes them stick.

Secondly, the actual parcel shelf can also be stuck: this is due to some of the bonding sealant that is used to fit the rear screen, it sometimes oozes out a bit, causing the parcel shelf to be slightly stuck down. Mine was, but a bit of tugging freed it.

In fact, you CAN get the spakers out and fit new ones, even 6x9's, all WITHOUT removing the parcel shelf, OR the rear seats. I know, because I did it that way.
