Default Making your own pod, advice in glove box

Not meaning to cause any offence but i really don't want to fit a 3 gauge pod on top of my dash. I don't want to give anyone any excuse to break in.

My idea instead is to use the top glove box on my sti 4.

The plan is to remove the cover and take off the hinge. Then place velcro around the cover and base. That way, when i want to display the gauges they are there, and when parking up, just put the cover back on.

The tricky bit is, what can i use to fill the hole so i can add / insert three gauges.

Will plexiglass work?
It's a really awkwered angle so i'm thinking mdf is out of the question.

I'd be grateful for any advice or pics
