Default Recaro issue.

Hi guys I've just bought a Recaro front seated interior for my classic. I received them this morning and all looked fine. I tried to recline the pass side one and the reclining mechanism is broken on one side Only one side of the seat backrest adjusts. The hinge is really 'floppy' when tilted forward on the tilt mechanism. Common problem? Is it easily rectified?
The seller is claiming they were ok in the car

I know of similar on a Carlton, (don't ask), and it was repairable, but needed welding. Depends if you can be @rsed to take the covers off for a look?

Well they're quite a rarety so don't mind putting in a bit of work if neccessary, and I got them for a bargain price. I've let the seller know and he seems to be being reasonable. Do you happen to know exactly what the problem was on the Carlton seats? I have a welder so no worries there. I've got the back separated from the base already but without taking the seat cover off can't get in to see what the problem is!

It wasn't my car, it was a taxi I drove, and the driver's seats BOTH, (both cars) came away on the left hand side due to the drivers constantly turning round for fares, and change.

The owner took the seats out and had them welded, that's all I know, they were back in service in under 12 hours and the cost was minimal.

I bet if you take the cover off, you'll spot the problem. Best of luck.

I bought my sub frames from this lot. Top bunch and very helpful. They do spares for the seats as well.

I have the Prodrive Recaro's and have them wired up and they are ace. When I got them one of the shells had a crack in it so I stripped the seat down and repaired it. The replacement shells are a bit pricey But be careful, ordered and patient and you'll be able to strip them down. I did a "How to" thread and I'll dig it out.

They will soon be wrapped in CF
