Question

I have been having problems with the drivers bucket seat on my MY01. The seat base felt lose, moving from side to side when going round corners quickly (surely the only way in an Impreza!). The seat base was replaced under warranty.
Now the seat back feels less than rock solid, if I put my hand on it whilst out of the car it is possible to jiggle it from side to side a bit. The passenger seat has no such problems.
Does anyone else have similar problems? I half think that the slack may be due to the height adjustment on the seat. If others haven't got similar problems then it is a fair bet that the seat is faulty.
If some of you MY01/02 owners wouldn't mind trying to jiggle your seat before you get in the car in the morning and reporting your findings on this post I would be very grateful.

Hi M8

No movement discernable on my buckets trying the test you suggested. I'm not exactly small (6'5" and 17 stone - too many pies).

Good luck in the claim.

Thanks for the reply, Bug Eyed.

Anyone else got any ideas?

The car is being looked at next week. If they pull the old, 'they all do that, sir' one it would be great to be able to pull out a wad of comments from Scooby-netters saying that they don't!

My drivers seat seems loose as well (MY01), same experience as you only when going round corners at pace. I had exactly the same problem with my MY97 when it was a few months old, dealer simply tightened the fixing bolts. Waiting for the next service until reporting the fault as its only now and again that it feels loose.

Unhappy

No movement on my WRX MY01, but I do have the height adjustment on its lower limit,if i jack it up there is a bit of lateral play!Whilst on the subject of buckets.....anyone know where you can buy velcro stick on lumbar supports,I spotted a pair in a my02 on Southport prom the other week, stitched WRX in blue, looked good and looked comfortable,my back is wrecked after driving for more than an hour

Demon Tweeks do the Sparco ones. You can even get a nice inflatable version. Get the motorsports catalogue from them, it has a wealth of useful bits.

A word of warning... the velcro will make an awful mess of your seat back.
