Default something i found on the floormat

hello folks, i'm driving a classic impreza gc8. i found this on the floormat on the driver's side of my car. not sure if it came either from one of the pedals or the steering column. i haven't notice any difference in pedal feel or steering but this thing looks important. i've asked the workshop even they don't know what it is

the white plastic inside the spring is suppose to be a bit longer and now broken into pieces.

any ideas what it is? or what it does? or the name of this thing?

cheers!

Looks like the end of the brakelight switch.

Check to see if your brakelights come on any more. If they do, I'm stumped.

Not sure if any classics came with these, but maybe a clutch switch then?

think i have found where this thing came from. it must be from the top of the brake or clutch pedal.

i looked at the gc8 service manual and i think this thing is a combination of items no. 26, 27, 28, 29 & 30 (rod s, spring s, bushing s, o ring & clip). i know the diagram is 2500cc but this is the only diagram that has this item.

the other thing i'm not sure of is what it does.
