Window tinting, rear only? What's the deal?
#1
Hi Guys,
I've noticed alot of people tint only their rear window and rear door windows, is this for the rally look? Are the front windows also tinted but only a light tint?

I think i am right in saying
the back 2 and rear windows can be as dark as you want- I have limousine and vision is still good from inside the car
The front 2 have to be a max of 50% i think that is why they look different

Ordered some tint yesterday and got a call today to say it's out of stock till next week.
However, the best bit is that I have ordered silver instead of the dark colours, which will match the rest of the bits on the car.
Wonder what I'll be doing next weekend!

harry, yes it does- if you wind your windows up and down a lot then ask for a thicker layer of tint film otherwise you'll need it replacing sooner.
Tiggs
ps- i use my windows loads so i went for 3mm.

When you say you went for 3mm,surely that dont mean the film is 3mm thick?Or does it!when i used to fit it i used a brand called foiliatec did loads of cars with it no creases or bubbles or your money back. But it was nowhere near 3mm thick it was gauged in microns thick.

Um,
The Type R's have tinted rear windows only (a la 22B). It is to protect the kids in the back from the extreme sun in Japan
You don't need no window tint to prove Scoob's are Pimp mobile's

Not sure about Aberdeen but there is a good place on the kingsway in Dundee. I'm getting mine done there next week.
Also a top place in Stirling. let me know if you want more details.

Can the windscreen be tinted at all?
Want my windows tinted but would want the same tint all round.
Also, are the windows slightly tinted anyway?
Cheers, Mark.

I thought the ruling was no tinting on windows in front of the driver. The interpretation is what constitutes 'in front of' - some people (including me) think that just means the windscreen - others play it safe and dont do the front side windows - which IMHO looks crap !

Well I did mine at the weekend, rear and back doors. They doo look really cool in reflective silver, but it was bloody hard work especially the rear one. Had to cut the thing into strips to get it round the curves of the window. Suffice to say, if you've got a whole day to do it and you are very patient then do it yourself, if not get the professionals in. There's still a bit of tidying to do on mine once it's properly dry, but well worth the effort. Think I owe my Dad a few beers after his major assistance.
