Default Prosport oil temp gauge under-reading

The temperature on my Prosport gauge is not reading correctly, I have yet to see the temperature get above 60, it normally sits just over 50 oC. It is not fitted by a sandwich plate but by a Subaru specific fitting, I wander if the sensor is knackered, or is there anything else it might be?

Cheers

Arthur

the gauge/sender needs to be fitted in the oil stream not on the dead end of an extension

how long are you leaving the engine running for while watching gauge? you`d be surprised how long it takes for the oil temp to move even when the dashboard temp (next to fuel gauge) is at normal operating temp.

Where have you fitted the sender? It should be fitted to the top of the block under the intercooler, requiring the removal of a blanking plug. using a sandwich plate will cause slight under-reading as well...but not as much as if you've used one of the adapters that allow you to retain the OEM oil pressure switch when you fit an oil pressure sender

For example when mapping with JGM, drove 60 miles to meet him then did lots of full out runs in third didnt get above 60, normal driving sits just over 50.

Carnetx fitted the gauges but pretty sure they used the plug on top of the block.
