Default prostepper boost gauge has mind of its own?

I have a prostepper boost gauge in my 03 wrx and recently it's had a mind of it's own.
On idle it flicks about all over the place and keeps going all the way round to 25psi and that bloody warning beep keeps going off

Sometimes it's fine then next time i driver it flicks about like it's got a mind of its own

The connections seem fine and there doesn't appear to be and holes in the hose has anyone got any ideas what can be causing it?

Also how to you turn that warning beep off it's hurting my ears and i have another 3 gauges to fit this week god knows how deafening it'll be with 4 of them going off at once lol

cheers

Jonny

What you are describing is usually caused by a poor/intermittent earth. Try removing it and connecting direct to battery -ve.

see my last post mate the plug that fits to the gauge from the sensor does not lock in place resulting in loose connection and the symptoms you have, i have just spent this afternoon cocking about with mine to find that out, i am looking at glueing mine in place somehow to stop it

to turn the bleeping off push the button in on the gauge and turn the ignition on. wait for the start up syncro to finish. as the gauge goes out let the button out. then the gauge lights up...job done

If you have positioned the sender unit in the engine bay it could have got wet or damp. If so its fooked and a new sender should be positioned inside the car.

I was also advised to change the clear tube from the 't' for a silicone hose as apparantly the standard clear tube can get hot an colapse, causing probs for the gauge.
