Thumbs up

this has come up before and a lot of people wont use harnesses unless they also have a roll cage fitted.

Steve

If search is working look for a thread called

i bolted the lap belt to the rearmost seat rail bolts, and the shoulder belts to the rear seat belt mounts...it holds me in place.

wife? heheh...don't have to worry about that. besides, passengers can fend for themselves.

If you really want the text book fitting guide I can send you a copy of the published guide from the RAC motorsport association to put your mind at rest.

Exclamation

If you have standard seats the shoulder straps need to be bolted to a point at the same height or higher than the holes in the seat. If they are bolted lower when there is an accident the belts will pull down on your shoulders pushing you down and cutting into the back of the seat. The only way I know to get mounting points higher than the holes in the seats is to have a rollcage!
The alternative to a rollcage would be to put racing seats in that have carbon fibre backs (or something as strong) as the belts won't be able to cut down into the seat so won't push down on your shoulders.
The waist straps can be bolted to the standard belt mounts as far as know!

All the above is info that I have scraped together from various other threads so I may get corrected!!!

until i get some sparcos in the car, these are RACE USE only. i don't feel like having my spine compacted in the event of a crash.

also, i did find out that our cars have a pre-threaded mounting hole under the carpet for fitting 4 pt harnesses...just poke the carpet around near the seat rail until you feel a hole underneath. just another reason why our cars are so cool.
