Defi boost gauge question
I recently fitted Defi (Nippon Seiki) boost gauge and although it works perfectly, I have a minor concern :
When I turn off the engine, the bost gauge needle is not returning to 0 but stays in the hg/cm2 (or whatever it is) area.
When I then turn the key in the contact position (position just before turning on the engine) the gauge makes the check goes to zero and when I then turn off and remove the key the needle slightly falls below zero (about half a centimeter or so).
Although I have a HKS Turbo Timr fitted I don't think it has anything to do with that as I tried with the TT on and switched off.
Is this normal or is there something wrong? Also isn't the controller supposed to store the last recording or warning level permanently in memory as my settings are gone when i turn off the car and remove the key.
Thanks,
Ramon

Ramon, with ignition off, the needle sits right at the bottom. Turn on the ignition and the gauge performs the check routine, then sits bang on zero. Start engine and it then reads boost, of course. Sounds like something's wrong with yours.
Good luck,
Richard.

Hmm strange, indeed although my boost readings seem to be correct, my needle does not point right to the bottom when I turn off the engine.
Instead it stays at the level it shows when engine is idling.
And as I said if I just turn on the ignition without starting the engine, the check is performed, the needle points to zero, but if I then turn off, the needle slighlty goes below zero (only a few millimeters)
What could I have done wrong? wire connection problems? Also is it normal that the check is made twice, once on turning the key in position 2 and again when turning on the engine?
And, my other question is also, shouldn't the peak and record values kept in memory as everything is lost when I turn off the car?
Thanks,
Ramon

Steve,
I checked the connections again and...indeed I inverted the red & orange wires. I don't know where I left my head when I installed the gauge & control unit.
It works perfectly now, the needle points down when turning off the car and also the Peak/warning & replays stay in memory once I turn off the engine.
Thanks again,
Ramon
