Default Odometer changed - now showing a far to high mileage

Hi guys,

I had to swap the complete unit where rpm-meter, speedometer and the other gauges are placed. Problem now: instead of 112.000 km it is showing 260.234 kms
How do I change that?
I know I need a wire to connect car and Notebook, but no idea which software I have to use.

Car: Subaru Impreza WRX V.4 MY98 Wagon
Notebook: IBM with Win XP

thanks to all!

cheers

Hi mate,

thanks for your idea, but in the area where I live there aren't such people whom I need. Reason is there's a new law since few years forbidding that and putting high punishments on it. But what I want is just legal.

Its called mileage "correction" over here, and is designed to be used for the very reasons you suggest. But obviously the illegal side is adjusting mileage to make a vehicle look better.

I believe you can swap the digital odemeter out for your old one, if thats still a viable option. Ahave a search on google. I'm sure I have seen it.

The old one's broken, didn't swap that thing for fun...
Is there a data cable or anything to make that damn thing show the correct mileage? I'm just a bit desperated.

Hi,

not only the digital part, the speedometer didn't work properly so my mechanican said I've got to swap the complete unit. Bought a used one and got it mounted. This was just a few month ago, all is pretty well except of the mileage shown... I'm a diy-freak and would like to adjust it by myself.

cheers
