If you haven't got a carpet in the boot it'll be a lot more boomy and noisy. You should be able to get a carpet to fit from a breakers, if it's a classic I doubt the boot lining ever changed, so there's loads out there. If you really want to reduce noise, you can buy pour on or stick on sound deadener.
