I will be getting my car back from the tuners friday and the first thing i want to get fitted is my gauges to keep an eye on things. Can anyone give me any tips/advice/fitting guide on fitting gaues as i have never done these before and the gauges i have bought have minimal fitting instructions with them.

Live, switched ignition and illumination (plus earth) are all available at the clock connector, easy fix for Defi's etc, then run cables and fit sensors.
Problems start when you need adaptors to fit sensors to engine....

I did Defi boost and fuel pressure last night, just need Scoobymania to sort me with oil temperature and EGT next..... oh ! and a pod LOL

P.S. If mechanical gauges, it's just illumination and earth needed !

Think they are mechanical? You dont remember which olour wires from the back of the clock are which do ya plz mate? I was hoping you could do summot like this. I have all the sender and have located the points in the engine bay where im going to wire them up to, just need live, switched ignition and illumination as you stated.

Just had a bu66er of a job refitting my oil presssure sender to the engine block, how many different sockets did I need

Doesnt the oil pressure sender go at the front of the engine under the alternator. This is the one im not looking forward to!

Do a search on this, it has been covered loads of times.

My advice is preparation. Make sure you have everything ready, for example for the oil pressure you will need an extension pipe and a tee piece to keep the original pressure switch.
Boost is easy, again make sure you have tee piece and clamps.
If you are going for an oil temp gauge, there is a bung in the middle of the engine block, under the intercooler, it is a swine to get to and you will need some good sockets and tools to achieve a good result.
Also find the route for the wires and boost pipe, also check to make sure the pipe supplied with the boost gauge is long enough.
The other point is what will you do with the alarm light?
I drilled 2 holes and fitted blue LEDS, looks good at night.

RCMS do a Defi adaptor for the "bung".

P.S. Use light feed to ciggy lighter for Defi controller.... as clock illumination is "reversed" so works backwards. Dim when off bright when on.

I've just purchased a set of 52mm Stack gauges. For Oil press can the plug on the engine block near the brake servo be used? This should be a threaded plug with a female Allen socket head? Can anyone confirm this? I believe access is easier with the Intercooler removed.

Also I'm going to fit water temp but where can this sensor be fitted? Is there an existing position on the block or do I need a sensor tapping on a pipe which can be purchased from Demon Tweeks. This appears to be installed by cutting an existing water pipe in half and installing the pipe/sender assy in line.

Any advice would be appreciated.

ps got a Carbon Fibre triple pod from the States but took over 2 months to turn up!

Roger Clark Motorsport do one to suit the Defi sensor, but if you can give them the thread spec., then Olly will sort it for around £15
