Recaro Pole Position Seats

Hi,
I also wanted to fit some buckets to my WRX (side support of OE seats is so crap that doesn't inspire you to push) but unfortunately there is no subframe for the Pole position from recaro. I would appreciate if you could guys post some pics of the work needed/done. I think there is a recaro subframe for the Recaro Sportster though.
Sorry for the off-topic but my current seats have got side airbags, if I fit seats with no airbags the connector for the airbag would have to be disconnected, would this make the airbag light switch on?
Cheers,

Thanks for the info fpan, i really wanted a subframe so they could bolt straight in if possible
I agree with you about the standard seats
I believe you can put a resistor across the terminals which will fool it into thinking the airbag is still connected

Granby, have a look at the Recaro catalogue and try to find a local dealer to try the seat you want before you buy it.
I phoned them a few months ago as I was thinking about changing the seat but in the end never did as I couldn't find a dealer at the time that had the seat in stock. I didn't want to buy something without trying it first. IIRC the Trendline/Sportline (under Products->Recaro Sport) can also fit the Subaru (these are fitted to Audis).
The other thing to bear in mind is that although the Pole position might be a great seat for track/spirited driving I don't know how comfortable it will be for day-to-day driving. It is fitted on some Porsches though from factory
I have a Recaro Speed on my 205 and it has been one of the best modifications I have done to the car. Fits me like a glove and you can really feel what the car is doing with your whole body. What I like about the Sportster is that it looks similar to the OE seat so you could just buy one for the driver only, but it is slightly wider than the Speed.

Hi,
I've fitted 2 Pole Positions in my 2003 STi. They fitted perfectly and quality is top.
Never regretted that move.
Mine are fitted with recaro adjustable rails

I have just fitted a Sparco Pro ADV driver's seat into my 1995 STi Type RA - we used the standard subframe with a bit of "fettling" + a lots of skinned knuckles.
Seat is fixed - i.e. standard runners bolted, but can be unbolted if I need to move the seat for lanky drivers (I am a short ****).
I will take some pictures and post on Saturday if any help?

Did you have to use any custom made parts to make them fit or just the recaro rails and adapter shown in the above link?
If you could post some pictures of the actual seat in the car it would be great!
What's the driving position like?
Can you use the standard 3-point belt with the pole position seat as I have heard that it's not a very good idea to use harnesses on a car without a roll cage. It would also make day-to-day/town driving impractical.
Thanks again

Hi people,
the seats are fitted with the aluminium side-plates (top of the list in my link) and the recaro rails (at least I was told that they where Recaro-Items, bought the seats second-hand). They are bolted together and fitted 1:1 in the car.
I think you can us the original seatbelts with the seats, just have to fettle them through the side holes of the seat.
Driving position can be adjusted by using the different holes in the side-plates. Drove 600km (to the Sachsenring ) without any greater stop and had no problem at all. I find them very comfortable.
About the impracticability of harnesses I can just say thats a question about getting used to it. Used 4-points for the last 2 years and never used the standard ones again. Love the connection to the car, you really feel what its doing. Problem is, if you roll the car without a cage you risk a broken neck.
At the moment the seats are not fitted because I had to remove them for technical control. Will fit them over the winter along with a HEIGO bolt-in rollcage, SCHROTH-FIA-harnesses and flocked dashboard.
Will take pictures as soon as possible an post them here then.

When I fitted a pair of Sparco EVO's to my track car, I used the bottom part of the seat runners and bolted them to the Sparco side mounts. So they would still bolt into the original 4 holes on the chassis.
That made them fixed, but that was ok as I'm the only one who drives it.
However after a few track days, I felt I was still sitting a bit too high and too close to the steering wheel. So I made custom mounts that sit very low and back as far as I could get them.
I do like that cage, was thinking of buying the OMP cage, but if you get a price Rooferman let me know. Group Buy?

Definately want a through dash type cage and not the dodger type!

Hopefully some suppliers will be there also, custom cages or safety devices. OMP usually have a stand, but so do Demon Tweaks and Peter Lloyd who are both OMP suppliers.
A friend of mine makes cages for F2 stock cars and hot rod chassis. So I may look into that too, but it makes it more tricky if I want to use the car for proper competitions. I need to get a copy of the "blue book" to check out whats allowed or not.

Hi
the price of the HEIGO cage is 1605,50€ (for the steel item), thats 1.147,41 pounds. But you have to add transports.
But the one i linked was for GD-Models (2001 - )
This one is for your car (rooferman): GC8-cage price is the same
I got mine second-hand for a very good price. Just had to order the fixing parts that are welded in the car. Nice people.
