Is it a straight foward swap from to the facelift impreza dashboards? Would one from a wagon fit a saloon?
Doeas anyone have links to a walk through?

Saloon & wagon dash are both the same.
To give you an idea of what you will need parts wise to change from pre97 to 98onwards facelift dash.

Complete dash with clocks (inc glove box etc)
Heater control panel & centre console, ashtray etc, hazard, rear defogger switches. Thw whole lot as you see it.
Door cards with window control switches with part loom.
Rear door cards require a bracket so that you can bolt the door cards on, thats if you go the whole hog & match the rears with the fronts.

The heater system,
on the pre96 models it comes in 3 parts:
heater matrix unit
air con unit
blower motor unit

Were as the later type comes in 2 parts
Heater matrix unit (same shape as above but has a motor servo with additional pin outs)
Air-con unit & blower motor are all in one unit.

So you could retain your heater matrix unit but need the later servo.

Then you will need all the electrical connectors plugs with part loom, better off with the complete bulkhead later loom.

I am not sure if the cross bar which is behind the dash is different? But I think it might be just slightly.

You will also need the speed sensor in the gearbox as the later speedo is electronic.

Plus the later dash has a few different mounting bracket points on the inner bulkhead?

The wire it all up, so you will need a good sparky.

I am still working on mine?
