Question Newage centre tray removal / PSi3

Just got myself a PSi3 data monitor from a fellow forum member (arriving next Monday/Tuesday) which is to be fitted in the single din slot below my head unit.

My car, 03 WRX has a din sized tray with a closable flap on the front of it.....how does this come out to allow me to fit the PSi3.....also thinking of switching the head unit to the lower din slot so the PSi3 is mounted higher in the dash.

Does the PSi3 just plug into the diagnostics port under the dash with no other wiring necessary?

Any help/tips appreciated

Dave

you need to take the cup holder out first then gently prize out the silver surround (surrounding the stereo and pocket!). From there it's easy. Unscrew the metal plates on the side of the stereo/pocket and simply put the monitor where the pocket was. Run the cable from diagnotics port and cable tie excess out the way and put back in - yes the monitor will just plug and play

I switched my stereo to the lower position as i found it easier to read the display

Cheers m8.....as you've done it before, you may as well pop down and do it for me

How does the cup holder come out?

Presumably the silver surround clips just need a little persuasion to "pop" out?

While we're on about cup holders.

Can the Defi controller unit fit in the place where the cupholder is? or in that section to the right? Anyone done that??

The standard idea is to simply plug it into the dignostic socket above you feet. But you can then see it when you get in and out of the car.

I unclipped the actual socket from the lower facia, connected the PSI plug and thencabled tied them up under the dash.

No other benfits but just looks neater.

Rob,

I'm just off the end of the M4 motorway at J49 so a bit of a way from you m8.

I'll give it a go....can't be too difficult....even for me!

I was thinking that about the plug sticking down below the dash when it's fitted so I'll take the route of unclipping the socket too.

no worries Dave.

Regarding the defi controller unit they will fit where the cup holder is though i put mine in the top of the glovebox where the manual goes. You can just make it out in this pic:

Downside is you need to lean over ever so slightly to reach it but my personal opinion is it looks better than sitting where the cup holder is.

I've also seen them on the side of the tunnel alongside the drivers legs though these are easy to get knocked off.

I'll consider it there. Depending on how easy it seems to get it flush in the cupholder unit.

What you done to the main clocks to light them up like that? LED?
