refabricing MY99 interior
hey all, is it possible to remove the middle fabric section from the door cards out of the door without damage? and then how would it go back in? there does not seem to be any evident clips or anything holding it in place...? is it glued or what..?
thanks

Hiya,
Excuse my slow reply, i've been away...
But, it is is not possible to remove that piece, the door card is one piece, with the fabric glued on top of plastic, the only way to do it is replace the existing fabric with what ever you want on it... not that difficult, took me about 15 minutes per panel!
Ron..

The door panel is actually in two parts - you can split it horizontally, just above the armrest part. The two sections are held together with plastic lugs, which can be melted and separated with a soldering iron. Putting them back together can be done by re-melting the lugs together. It's a bit of a pain in the ****, but can be done with patience.

Basically, you 'might' be able to use the original as a pattern, but it will get out of shape when you remove it, i found that by sticking the middle section on, and then using something like a teaspoon into the groove, i could then work out where to cut, and then glue the leather/fabric down, as standard it is literally just tucked into that groove, i couldn't believe how easy it was.... but then i am an upholsterer by trade, so am used to working with fabric/leather.... which may have helped a tad....
