The wheel, airbag and loom retail for IRO £1100 from your friendly dealer!!
I may be able to source a new one for considerably less - but the silver one is from earlier STis (02-04?) and there's not many about now.
Some breakers may have them from trashed STis.
Its much easier to get hold of the black ones from 05 cars as ther's many being rally prepd now, from which the steering wheels are donated.
If interested the drop me a PM

Ive recently fitted one of these sti steering wheels with the silver centre on my MY98 lovely looking bit of kit,i got mine from a guy on here surprisingly enough at a very reasonable price.I guess the best thing to do is keep browsing the for sale forums and ebay.I also much prefer the silver centre than the dark one (reminds me of an old maestro)

You may need to be wary of your warranty and the insurance issues that arise from changing the airbag (ie primary safety system)

Just a thought

I recently fitted one to my classic http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=489336 and i told the insurers the other day, and he didn't even flinch...... so not really an issue it would seem......
Pm me if you want to know where i got it... £150!

STi silver ones are now obsolete (only on 02/03 STis) and very difficult to find other than at breakers.
They were replaced by a black centered air bag up to the 05 model.
The STi wheel is slightly smaller than the WRX wheel for 01-05 cars, after then WRX wheels shrank to the same size, so its a pointless exercise in swapping them on 06 cars.
The swap requires the STi wheel, airbag and loom to make life easier.

I'm barking up the wrong tree then with a silver one if they were on 02/03.... i need the black one for an 04 is that correct

Its only the colour/shape of the airbag cantre that's different. They'll both fit your 04. Its just that the black STi wheel is much much easier to get hold of - there's one on Ebay at the moment.

Cheers Nick, just one more question then.... is the outer whell the same i.e. could i just put the airbag centre into my standard wrx wheel... I have just had someone contact me that they have both silver & black sti airbag centres.

Thanks again
