Sparco Pedal Covers?
#1
Anyone tried these?
I've just bought a set of polished aluminium with rubber studs from Halfords. Look very nice, MUCHB cheaper than STi ones. I've not fitted them yet; anything I should be careful of?
Cheers,
Andy

I've got the exact same set. I had them fitted to my 93WRX, but havn't got round to fitting them to my current UK 'Prodrive'.
The Clutch and brake pedal are easy.
Just remove the rubber cover.
Place the Ally one central on the pedal and carefully mark the position using a 6mm drill bit (best to use a varable speed drill).
Remove Ally pedal and drill through fully.
Refit and bolt in place using fittings provided.
The accelerator is a bit more tricky as it is mounted on a shaft and is sprung loaded. I tried to remove it completely but could not get the split pin out.
Therefore the same principle as above was used except that you may need more patients when trying to get the nut on the back of the fitting screws (due to the pedal shaft, getting in the way).
There may be an easier way to do the accelerator pedal, but have yet to find one.
Have Fun....

Cheers for that one Scott.
The are a bit of a bargin @ £20 vs Mega bucks for STi ones. Currently trying to suss out what to do about the left foot rest - maybe a bit of sheet aluminium from B&Q cut to the right size and drilled will finish the set off?

Andy,
I have fitted the Sparco pedal covers to my MY99.
I can honestly say it is a pain in the neck
to do and given the choice again I would take
them back to Halfords and get my money back.
You can't fit them centrally on the pedals 'cos
the pedal shaft/rib joins the plate centrally at the back, and is in the way, so you have to offset them.
Offsetting them the right amount to miss the rib is a bit hit and
miss, too much and the pedals are too close
together, too little and you can't get the
nuts on the back for the side of the rib. The accelerator pedal is
a pain because as Scott.T says there is a
strut behind it and the pedal pivots to give
more comfort when driving. Fitting the pedal
covers uses up all the clearance and the pedal will not pivot. You will need to take
all the pedal box out (not an easy job) and
modify it somehow.
IF i were you I would save up and get some STI pedals. Expensive but I
believe they would be better.
Cheers
