I have received my A-pillar pod and Autometer Phantom boost gauge from ScoobyMania, as shown on their website.
It looks excellent, although I did spend several hours slowly opening the hole in the pod so that the guage would fit nicely.
I know exactly what is required to fit the vacumm hose, but I am at a loss as to where to wire up the electrical connection.
I don't want to go pulling apart the dash looking for a convenient place to get 12V. Can someone who has done this before please tell me where I should be hooking this up to ?
By the way, is the electrical supply purely for the backlight, or is it needed to make the guage function ?
Thanks,
Andrew.

purely for the backlight. So you could take it from your bright switch
The best place to take the power from for the illumination would either be the stereo or the cigarette lighter.

As it's an a-pillar pod, you could take the illumination feed from the back of the fog light switch. Those switches are illuminated, so find the wire that powers the bulb and you're away. Use the ground there too.

For Information I have recently wired my Scoobymania gauge to the foglight switch. Basically remove the lower part of the dash under the steering wheel by undoing two screws under neath, one on the left and one on the right by the bonnet catch, and the screw you can see on the right hand side with the door open. I wired mine to the purple wire for the switch illumination (there are two but both are powered by switching the light on) and the black wire to the earth on the rear foglight switch.
Hope this helps. It took me about 10 minutes to do this bit. You may find like me that the gauge is very bright. You may need a dimmer in the feed to the lamp. I have not got one myself yet but it is on my shopping list.

Fizz,
Are yhou sure that the bottom panel comes of after removing just those three screws ?
If so, how much 'persuasion' does it need ? Are we talking brute strength here ? I really don't want to snap something trying to get it off.
Thanks,
Andrew.

Not much effort. Once the screws are undone you pull it from the top. It is clipped in here and at the bottom. I didn't have to pull much at all. I took this panel out to test the wires on the switch but if i remember right you can pull the top out far enough to work on it anyway.
Good luck. Once alight it is
