Personally I think turbo timers are a no-no. If you have a cat 1 alarm you're going to be playing with immobilisation to get it to work which, if your insurance company finds out, could leave you a tad exposed.

OK, so everyone looks a plonker at service stations sitting there for a minute before filling up...

Check with your insurer first.

I'm fitting one, As I understand, most alarm systems don't set immediately anyway, they allow stuff to 'setle down' before arming fully.

The 2 can conflict, I will also be checking with my insurance comp[any before fitting.

I was of the understanding that (I'm sure Stuart will correct me if I'm wrong), it is an offence under the road traffic act, to leave/vacate your vehicle with the engine still running?

Mike.

Couldn't the money be better spent else where, for the sake of sitting in your car a minute longer!!

I'm sure by the time I pick up my phone, lock the barrier deadlock, put on the Disklok (if a dodgy area), picked up the cigarettes and lighter, take off the stereo face plate (if I had one), pick up my jacket and get out of the car, the minutes up anyway!!!

The cost of buying and fitting a turbo timer is in the region of a Ram Air Inductor, or what have you, what would you rather have???

Just a thought
Andy

I use a blitz timer ( not on a scoob ). Its there so that I don't forget to leave the car running when I stop. I sit in the car and wait for it to finish, as Mike mentioned it is illegal to leave a running car unattended ( never seen/heard of anyone being 'done' for it mind.. ). I usually drive off boost for a good 5mins before stopping anyway...

Is it really illegal?

Just wondering how Clifford manage to sell their Autostart devices if it is....

Also, some of the alarms have a turbo timer feature...

Yes is illegal.
The law doesn't stop you making something that can break the law - take the example of a gun or a knife - perfectly legal items if used correctly - very illegal if not.

No doubt manufacturers would say "Always remain with your vehicle until it has stopped" or words to that effect if pushed....
