MY00 Impreza turbo:
The "metallic" looking facia around the radio and heater controls does not fit correct on its vertical edges.
How can this be re-fitted? How is it removed and where are the screws if any?
Anyone else got this problem?

I'm not responsible if you break it but if you whack a small screwdriver (remember to use card or cloth to protect surround) between gearknob surround and handbrake surround thingy? Prize out gearknob surround, move rearwards then yank at bottom of ashtray surround the whole lot will come away (with ashtray & ciggy lighter etc)

I assume it is just a clip fit back hence mine is hanging out a bit!
Not very good on a 10 day old car!
Anyone else with this problem?

The facia is held in with 4 clips. When you remove the facia the clips go awol never to be seen again. If you dont have all the clips the facia shakes about. The clips are likely to be on or around the airbag control unit which is mounted below the stereo.
You may have to order new clips from Subaru.

Mine was sqeaking as the crap plastic surround moved against the face of the heater controls. There is a sequence :
1. Open the central arm rest - at the front underneath the lid are two plastic buttons covering screw heads. Take these out and this allows you to remove the handbrake surround (plastic clips along the side and front but nothing that flies off).
2. The gearlever surround can now be prised out upwards. It's just held in by plastic clips (part of the main moulding).
3. The metallic facia surround is held in by 4 metal clips. Two along the very bottom, two along the top. Plastic clips (integrated) again hold the sides in. As Colin says try to prise them out gently else the clips fire into the middle of next week. You should be able to now remove the surround complete with wiring for useful bright switch etc.
