Changing the seats in a 96?
#1
Has anyone any experience of this apart from the Prodrive conversion (££££)?
There are a number of seats in the Recaro range that are cheaper than the one's Prodrive use, but it looks like they get you with the subframes.
I see that companies like Cobra and Corbeau can do un-logo'ed seats that look OE, anyone any experience?
Lastly, anyone know a good re-trimmer in the South (Hants)?
Cheers, Martin

Martin, I fitted a recaro interior which i picked up at a rally preparation place. this is the same as the seies McRae cars. I notice that in Motoring news theres someone selling a full Recaro Impreza [ it says from a WRX] interior , with door cards, for £450. It's been in there for the last few weeks, so might take an offer now,

I am also reviewing changing my seats. Do you know which seats from the Recaro range the Pro Drive seats are? I had a Cosworth before the Impreza, which had very nice leather recaros (I think they were recaros), but I do not know what the equivalents are in the range.
Whats the deal with subframes. Are the Impreza ones had to get? Do you know where they can be obtained?
Let me know what you discover.

Prodrive use the Recaro Sport, I think, about £800 each.
Recaro also make some great seats at around £3-£400 each but I have been told (by Demon Tweeks) that only Prodrive can supply the frames. I have heard these cost!!
Cobra and Corbeau make some pretty good looking seats, and bearing in mind that some find the OE seats pretty unconfortable I was considering this.
As most of this information has been gained second hand, I would be grateful if anyone knows the facts.

Re. subframes. I need some for my MY96 which has a Prodrive interior BUT with hacked together subframes for the seats. What I have discovered is:
a) Prodrive charge an arm and a leg for the subframes (oh, and a left ear...)
b) during my conversation with them they described them as, for the MY96 car anyway, 'Legacy one piece units'.
c) armed with this information I went along to Central Subaru. There are TWO types of Legacy subframes. The ones I need are for a 2.2 Legacy. Trouble was, they didn't have any....
Basically, the standard Impreza subframe (again, all this is for a 96) has two bolts for the seat - one lying in the horizontal frame and one in the vertical. The Prodrive seats need both in the vertical. Also, again I think this is only 96 specific, the seatbelt is attached to the inner seat runner - major point tio remember.
Hope this helps.
