Anyone got the carbon dash kit from GGR?

had the real one on MY97. Looked the bollox.
It's a bitch to fit though. None of the "slide till it fits" malarkey. If you misalign it, that's it. It won't come off.
It's damn expensive from GGR though - I'd look around - can't see how a few bits of preformed carbon can be nearly £300.00.
Or, if you feel handy, you can buy the sheets (which come with glue, laquer etc) and cut to shape.
Think it's about £30.00 per kit (that's real carbon too)

Nope, but I am seriously considering it. I have a sample that GGR sent me, and it looks good.

so have I!! I asked for the real and the fake. Not sure which I like best to be honest. The real is really thick, which makes me wonder if it will be too noticable as an aftermarket jobbie. The fake seems too expensive to me considering it is fake.

Anyone actually got it!!?!?!

Didn't someone post that Carnosseiur (can't spell it) sell the same kit for loads less?

Yes, Carnoisseur and those type of shops sell the exact same (fake) carbon kit as GGR but it only costs £110.
I've got the ally kit myself, but they do wood and fake carbon too.
My local branch is Bedford and the number's 01234 304305. Ask for Tim or Simon. Tim's got a Scoob and Simon's got a Cossie, so they know their stuff.

Eek! So what you're saying is that these are not REPLACEMENT kits, they merely stick onto the existing interior?? I thought it would be a complete replacement, especially for £300!

They stick on the existing dash, and come with a ten year guarantee if the instructions are followed properly, no idea how they'd know that though!!
I haven't seen any other kits in a car other than mine, which you can see at

Just to put the record straight.GGR use to sell a carbon dash kit for £99,Now i havn't actualy got details of the make that carnaseur supply (Maybe someone could elaborate), but we had no end of problems with stickability and shape mismatches that we felt the market place needed a quality rather than cheep dash conversion kit.

Synthetic kits £222-225 inc vat
real carbon/wood kits £319-325 inc vat

Ello Chambers I haven't broken anything lately... yet...

I thought these kits were dash replacement modules. I don't like the idea of sticking stuff to my existing dash. That seems so tacky. Good job I found out before I palced the order. Maybe I'll buy some quality wood and fashion it, should be easy.

The make of the Carnoisseur kits is 'Pre-Woodec' which I believe is a German firm. I have compared the 'sample' you get on the box to the GGR one, and it looks absolutely identical.
Either way, it's half the price of the GGR kit and comes with a 10 yr guarantee, so 'stickability' isn't an issue.

Have you considered taking the trim off, and coating/spraying it with one of the many films available? I thought of this but couldn't be bothered with the hassle. I'm sure it would look better though.

I know of a company who are currently developing genuine carbon fibre trim replacements, these are not just stick on jobs but are complete trim parts reproduced in carbon fibre, these include all the plastic dash parts such as the instrument binnacle and speedo/rev counter surround. They also have carbon fibre copies of the wrc style wing mirrors from prodrive although you do lose the electric in car adjustment. other items include sill plates and complete door trim in carbon fibre for earlier cars, these are carbon fibre inserts which replace the oe trim which is covered in that horrible tweed material. I have also seen the replacement trim for the centre section in earlier cars, i refer to the black plastic part which houses the stereo,cigarette lighter and ash tray and then runs down to surround the gear lever, this is replaced by a carbon fibre part which houses three dials where the cig.lighter and ash tray would have been.
I cant give any more information at present as these parts will not be available until the new year, what I can say is that they are being produced by a company who currently specialise in composite material technology for the race/rally car marketand prices are estimated to be very reasonable, a with profits estimate for the wing mirrors works out at £115 per pair inculding glass.

 

If this is just the stick on round the edges of the vents and dials type stuff I personally would avoid it.

My MY95 (With Prodrive Int.) had it in when I bought it second hand. I tried to live with it for a few weeks but in the end it just looked far to aftermarket and tacky and I had to strip it out.

I have no idea what make it was of course.

The stuff Moz is talking about obviously isn't the stick-on stuff, and sounds great if you like carbon fibre, which I don't.
The stuff I'm referring to is the stick-on stuff, and I like the way mine looks. I guess it's all down to personal choice.
I've asked all my friends for their opinion on my interior, and not one has been bad. These aren't the sort of friends that would humour me either!
Some people may see my car and think it looks tacky, but that's OK, 'cos it's my car and I like it!
I guess I'll get a few more opinions at Donno!

Looks like I'm going to Donnington aswell (with Tamiya son of scooby) so I'd be interested in having a look. I guess the fact that I could get the stuff off my car at all kinda suggests it was probably purchased from the 'lower end of the market'. In fact it virtually fell off anyway.

Mine has a genuine carbon fibre Momo gearknob which I do like (was this part of the Prodrive Int ?). The stick on stuff was very very far from genuine carbon fibre.
