thinking of getting a PSI3 SECS unit for my STi6, i also want a Knock Link fitting, but does the latest version of the PSI3 include the same functionality? on the psi website features list (http://www.psi3.co.uk/post98pod.html) it says "Knock correct - Degrees (Ignition Timing)" is this the same?

AFAIK, if it shows any knock correction then the ECU is seeing what it interprets as knock. The ECU is connected to the OE knock sensor, so it's safe to assume it's knocking.
My understanding is a Knocklink will show you knock "as it happens", whereas the PSI unit will only show a record of how the ECU has responded to the knock (and the amount). Perhaps it maybe too late before the PSI will be of any good

Yep, the KL is live whereas the PSI shows the correction value, and it wont be instantaneous. The ECE will back off / retard ignition if detects knock, which is what the PSI is showing you. It wont flicker and bounce like the KL, I dont think.
