I have a 97WRX and it has the nasty black steering wheel with the airbag fitted which appears to be the wrong one. I would have thought that it should be a MOMO on that year/model?

So, I am wanting to know what others have done.

Do you buy a MOMO with air bag and have to replace mudules for the airbag (not sure where these are).

Or, do you just buy a MOMO wheel without an airbag (where would you go for one of these?, any pics would be great).

Cheers for any help/advice

Just fit an original Momo airbag wheel and it will connect up without having to replace any control modules etc.

I have a MY97 with the horrible wheel. I have ripped it off and all the silly airbag stuff that goes with it and replaced it with a really sexy Momo - non airbag wheel. Quite easy to do (I did it all on my own) If you need any help let me know.

erm?????????????????????

I have a 97 with the nasty black Subaru wheel (airbag) and i thought you cant get it thro an mot as its not standard. Are you saying its ok to remove the steering wheel, disconnect the air bag loom thing and bolt on a normal tasty momo?

What about the air bag light & sensors??

MOT ????????????????????????????????????

Is it ok to do this then??

Cheers

Yep, you can either get a resistor to fool the system into thinking the bag's connected (the only real option if you have a passenger airbag) or take the bulb out. As long as the warning light isn't on it will pass an MOT fine.

Make sure your insurance know it's been removed!
