Mechanical oil gauges will rely on an actual feed of oil going to the back of the gauge.

This doesn't sound like a nice idea... If something goes wrong you've got high pressure hot oil in the passenger compartment. So if the gauge fails, where's the oil going to go? What about in an accident?

I'd always go for electrical.

Cheers,
Nick.

Cheers m8, I had thought of that, mech is OK for a stock car or something like that.

Electrical it is then.

My knocklink came this morning, just waiting for the sensor & Mobil1 to arrive tomorrow along with my oil pressure & temp gauges.

I have a dilemma, I am going to need a 3rd gauge (for obvious reasons to fit in the centre pod for 3 gauges ) and don't know what to get. I already have a boost gauge mounted next to the parking light switch.

Any suggestions ?

Dawes or Autometer ones are the most popular. I'll go for the Dawes myself since it's more discrete.

I went for the SPA dual digital oil temp/pressure guage as I didn't fancy a centre pod. Fitted them to my A-pillar with my boost gauge.

Thumbs up

Gauges ordered from Merlin Motorsport.

Went for Oil pressure & oil temp along with electrical sender units.

Got the gallery & mod'd sump plugs from LeMans auto's.

Going to mod a pod to house the Knocklink & Dawes AFR LED's to eliminate those horrible boxes.
