Question

i have fitted my SECS unit but for some reason the speed never reads above 83mph. My peak value is greater than that so it must have worked once. Any ideas what might be up? I have reset everything and still no luck.

Good job I don't have a flux capacitor wired to it as it would never work

cheers

Check what you have set on the speeds page thingy - mph or mph+c. Might do it. Needs to be mph for a UK car.
That said, mine steadfastly refuses to read above 96 mph, no matter how fast I go on my private road obviously....

My speed is set to MPH. I have no idea why it is doing this? Its fine up to 83 and then thats where it stops until I return to less than 83 and then it works again.

Anyone help?

Thanks

Janner

Picked up my MY02 today from Stan Palmers with newly fitted and tested SECS.....

Brilliant.

Checked the Max MPH = 109 MPH

Also checked the Max RPM...aaaaaagh.

Knowing Ian I guess mine's working..............On a private road !

Sorry Janner, i can't find any contact details for you, please call me tomorrow 07796 992992.
Sound like this is specific to the P1 ecu, have you all tried the MPH + C option then reset peak values?
Any questions give me a call.

I have reset the peak values and played about with the different speed settings. It even stops when its changed to KMH or KMH + C. The weird thing is that it was working as I have recorded cough cough mph peak but all of a sudden 83 mph is the max. The best bit though is that even after I reset the peak values and the readout still doesn't go past 83mph, after a while the original peak value finds its way back!!!????

Abby

Did you cheat and have it read MPH + C which is about 20% above the speedo

Seriously though I look at the SECS and think...

Oil pressure....at start up 102 PSI (80 odd when warm)

Oil temp.....start up 50 degrees C (90 when warm)

Coolant...there's a guage for that.....but max 97 degrees C

AFR....... generaly about 1.00 "accellerating" reads 0.88 and well over 1.00 lifting off

Knock correction....Stays at 0 but gets to 8 0r 9 degrees accellerating

Boost....Max so far 16 PSI but really fluctuates and is generally negative or near atmospheric for driving around.

Still trying to work out what is going to break the car

Another thing. The Knock correction never changes. It always sits at 0. Any ideas why that might be?

Cheers

Just helping you on your way to 300 BHP (drivetrain)

Stlll not sussed out the SECS completely but have nearly stuffed the car into stationary traffic whilst looking at it Just wondered if PSI3 would give a list of "dangerous values" but I guess the legal implications of that would be a bit tricky.....

Arrrgggh!

I reset the peak values on the SECS the other day and then did an ECU Reset to cure a boost limit problem and guess what?
83 Mph max !!!

It's still a bloody marvellous thing though - ECU Reset at the touch of a button.....grrrrrrrrrreat

Oh yeah, P1 too.

Kev

Highest boost I've recorded is 1.17.
Put some 95RON fuel in it recently as I couldn't get any proper fuel and I was running on fumes
Car's not been HP since. Twice had to do ECU resets as the ECUs been cutting the boost down to 0.66 max due to the crap fuel.

Thats about 1.095 bar in my reckoning. Mines been at 1.12 so not much difference. I set the alarm at 1.27 bar (thanks Elgordano) and it's not flashed yet

Abbey, does your speedo read anywhere near the SECS road speed......on the speedo I'm at 85MPH (usual *cough* private road / M6 *cough*) but the SECS reads only 80. I just wondered which waas most accurate ??

I've the Bog standard MY02 alloys (OK i've had them painted in a tarty gold colour which is flaking off) but the SECS reads about 10% LESS than the Speedo. I wonder Where the ECU reads the MPH from and if its more accurate than the SECS. ??

Cool

On my non-turbo USDM 2.5RS the SECS unit is currently showing a peak mph of 127 On a private road of course! Only oddity in my car is the unit won't read fault codes...oh and the boost display actually reads manifold pressure on the N/A cars
