Just about to take the plunge and get a S1003 unit for my Impreza.

Before i spend my cash just wanted opinion's of anyone who has already got one installed..

Was it worth the cash...

Are they any problems...

Does it do what you wanted it to do...

PCB has already confirmed this unit will fit my Car.

Cheers...Bryan

You'll be able to see boost with a Dawes. The secs does not let you adjust boost.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

The SECS is the same idea as DeltaDash; it just reads and displays std info from the ECU. Both will allow external sensor input (e.g. oil pressure, oil temp, EGT, etc.) with some add-on kit.

You can't adjust boost with SECS or DeltaDash - you need a remap or MBC to achieve that.

I doubt anyone whose spent £300-£400 is gonna admit it wasn't worth the cash

I have had a SECS 1002 for about a month now, and here is my verdict:

> Was it worth the cash...

Yes

> Are they any problems...

The unit resets itself now and then, I think it is somehow caused by relay noise, but this isn't really an issue.

> Does it do what you wanted it to do...

Oh yes, and it will be even better when the oil temp/pressure is ready.

Highly recommended

question:

Money aside, does the SECS monitor 'knock' better or worse or the same as a knocklink ?

I'd prefer a SECS unit but Knock is an important feature.

Please advise.

The secs monitors knock correction. This shows if the ECU is retarding timing due to it picking up some knock. A few degrees of knock correction is OK. Any more and you may have a problem. But you can't be sure how big a problem, or if there really is a problem even with the few degrees of knock correction you see. Also if the stock knock sensor was to play up you would not know what was going on. This is where the Knocklink has the advantage. You can see if the engine is detting from the lights on the monitor. If the big red lights up you know there's a problem. It uses a seperate knock sensor so if the stocker packs it in the knocklink will save you.

Knocklink is better for monitoring det. The secs lets you know what the ECU is doing.

All the Ecutek tuners that have Delta Dash, similar to secs, recommend the fitting of a Knocklink.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Guys,

Do I take it that for 325 quid, the secs 1003 will not monitor
oil temp?
I need some guages, but at the moment, i feel like I need

1) Boost guage
2) AFR
3) Oil Temp.
4) Knock indication.

It would be nice if a plug in unit would cover all of these.

The SECS unit will have Oil Temp / Oil Pressure as an optional extra in the next few weeks.
