Question

Does anyone know if the seat belt mechanism can be repaired/refurbished.
Basically it doesn't release properly resulting in me having to pull it quickly a number of times just to get the belt on, once on, I can't lean forward as the 'rachet' (or whatever it is) doesn't disengage.

The unit itself looks like it is a sealed unit, I would rather know if I can take it to pieces before I try and take it to pieces only to destroy it.

Anyone have any of these kicking around from a scrap one?

I really wouldn't mess - it could save your life as I guess you realise

Get a replacement from a scrappy, or Subaru dealer. I wouldn't think about taking one apart no matter how easy it is. It might be simply a spring come away from the bit that goes into the ratchet, but...
