Has anyone fitted a universal gaiter to the gearstick on a facelift classic shape interior (MY97-MY00)? Just wondering how well it works and what is the best brand to buy.

I know the Nito ones are the biz but ATM I can't stretch to the £80+ required for one

Hi m8
I bought a leather STi gaitor from someone on here but does not fit my MY97. Don't know if it would fit yours or not.
Let me know.

Got a red leather one on mine, bought for abt £10 in a local car shop. Unpicked the stitching at the bottom to make it a bit longer, unpicked bit hidden when fitted, gave it 2-3 coats of dubbin, then fitted it over the existing rubber one. Looks good IMHO.

Alas, does your car have the newer interior with the storage tray and lid in the centre of the dash? If not it might be designed for an STi with my type of interior (STi 5 and 6, possibly also 4 IIRC).

Have you got a pic, and how much are you looking for it?

Alcazar, cheers for that, might have a look round some accessory shops and give that a go.

Hi m8
Mine does'nt have the storage tray in the dash. It is beside the handbrake & gear shift. Unable to put a pic on here as don't have the equipment. Does sound like it was for a 98 onwards.
It is plain black leather with the plastic rings to fit over the pins in the console. Definitely came off an STi. I paid 15.00 for it incl postage and would want the same.
Up to yourself. The reason it does'nt fit mine is that the base is not big enough for my car so if the newer ones have a smaller base to the gearshift then thats it.
Let me know what you think.

£15 sounds good mate, as long as it will fit my car. Here is a pic of a Nito gaiter fitted to a Scoob with the same interior as mine, would you think it fits?

BTW What colour is it and is it in good nick?

Certainly looks like a smaller base than in my car so would prob fit. Can't promise it however. Colour is black and in excellent nick with just plain black leather. Stiff collar at top and plastic eyes at base to fit over pins under console.

Hi m8
Found out it came off a 98MY so if that is the one with storage in centre dash then should be right.

Thumbs up

OK mate I'll take it, should fit OK since the interior changed some time around MY97 IIRC.

Mail me your addy and I'll send a cheque for £15 if that's OK? paul_morga@yahoo.co.uk

Cheers.
