Electrical vs. mechanical gauges

'ello all,
Are electrical gauges more accurate than mechanical gauges? If so, why are both still available? Given the option would they indeed be the best option for oil temp/pressure gauges?
Regards,
Andre

Not sure on accuracy, but I went for electrical oil gauges due to not wanting oil coming into the back of the dash. Might never be a problem, but didn't want to take the risk. At least it all stays in the engine bay with the senders.....

Very good reason that. The other reason I can think of is that if you're linking in with the cars existing sensors you should at least know what the ECU thinks is happening.
