Boost gauge - help!
#1
Seems like my boost gauge isn't 'zeroing' properly?
Autometer gauge just fitted, but reads -7psi as turbo starts to spool, and only maxes out at 10psi. Feels as fast as ever though, and it should read 17psi (MY00 PPP).
Any ideas?

I have an autometer gauge - had the first one replaced as it under read by 4 PSI. It sat in vacuum when the engine was off...
Told that it is a reasonably common problem

when your engine is off it should read zero, if its not at zero then send it back where it came from, once engine is started and running on tickover then vacuum is created and the gauge will read minus zero, when you move and the car comes on boost the gauge will read plus zero, to find the true boost of your car do the following, get into about third gear and accelerate, put your left foot on the brake (lightly) whilst still accelerating, this puts your engine under load and will give a true reading. cheers nomad ps if your gauge is not set at zero when engine is off then its faulty, do not take any excuses from anyone, the autometer 66mil has a vent off screw so you can reset to zero, i always found that it didnt take long for it to move off zero,
