Default Anyone had a steering wheel retrimmed?

Looking for recommendations, or places to avoid.
PM me anything that might cause probs.

Found one that would change my round wheel into a flat bottomed one, and make it thicker too. It eas on YouTube.

Present wheel is off a WR1, fitted to a 98 classic.

Royal steering wheels did one on my hatch. Made it flat bottom and half alcantera/perforated leather with red stitch.

Been looking into this myself and found various threads about Royals, they seem to be crazy busy all the time, a bit like they cannot keep up with the demand. Just my 2p worth.

thats fine if they are but not replying to emails to tell customers they are busy is just rude in my view ,, takes 2 mins to copy and paste the same reply to anyone you couldn't do work for ,,, not like its one or two wheels they would be doing for me as iv had loads done so its there loss not mine

Lol...Honestly mate I've not had any issues with mine,I had it done a couple of years ago and its still like brand new the only criticism I had was it took them a bit longer to do than I expected.

thats the trouble isnt it ,, when a company is overwhelmed with orders (prob due to the Facebook promotors lol) then they either rush to get them done or employ people who dont have the same attention to detail as the current people so the work suffers

had about 10+ steering wheels done at edge automotive and all mine have been good and I know prob another 20 people who have used them off my recommendation and they have all been over the moon with them aswell so it sometimes pays to find your own company rather than following the crowd lol

Well last week my son sent an email to both of the above mentioned company's regarding re trimming his R32 steering wheel and neither company replied.
They must have so much work on they don't want anymore!

I know of many people that don't start back at work until tomorrow as they have 2 weeks off for the holidays, maybe they aren't open again yet?

I had my fsti wheel re trimmed by Royal in alcantera the first time they got it completely wrong and did it in perferated leather then made me wait while they sorted it out. The communication or lack of it was bloody awful . Though to be fair the end result was great , but if my experience was anything to go by be prepared to wait and be prepared to be ignored.

Don't mind me lurking; I've got a well worn second hand steering wheel on my R32 which I purchased to get the multifunction buttons. Sadly the buttons won't transfer to my original wheel, so looks like I'm going to need the wheel re-trimmed.

So very interested in how all you guys get on.
