Red face

Hi all untill recently i didnt realise my MY00 was fitted with a quickshift kit, (ggr by the look of it), the gearlever connects to another rod which disapears thru the bulfk head, its this secon rod which appears to catch or skim the meatal surround bolted to the transmission tunnel, is this the norm or is there a fix?

Cheers

Yes, with the quick shifts you have to bend back the surround slightly so that (when engaged in first) the con rod does not catch. Pair of pliers and some gentle brute force

This is standard for all people that have fitted short shifters

Are you sure that that is the cause of rattle. I had an annoying rattle which I eventually traced to the bush at the connection of the shift rod to the shift lever.

Cured it by packing with copper grease

Mine only started rattling like that a couple of weeks after fitting the Q/S, so didn't immediately link the events. It was a rather annoying (and worrying) noise!

I Dremmelled my metal surround - you should have seen the sparks!!
