question for all you with rear wipers
#1
i'd like to convert my us car over to have a rear wiper and have a few questions. first like what kinda switch do you use to control it? and on the rear deck lid between the seats and the glass is there like a hole or a buldge in it for the wiper motor and all or is it flat? do you also have a sprayer somewhere to wash dirt and all off of it? thanks in advance.

Personally I'd be more inclined to remove the rear wiper if I'd bought a jap model! Dunno why you need them on a saloon, the aerodynamics mean you get better rear visibility in the rain without a wiper than a hatchback or estate car does with one.
I think they're ugly things that spoil the smooth look of the car. Just IMO of course!

well i dont know how many times i've been driving and gotten dirt or just whatever on the back window and though, "man, i wish the us was lucky enough to get rear wipers." so that is my mission. to get a rear wiper.

I've got a 95WRX with rear wiper and I definately need it. If there is any water on the roof when I start moving the first thing it does is flow down the rear window. When it is raining heavily I can't see a thing unless I use the wiper. I was going to try and figure out a way of getting the water to go to the sides of the screen instead of down the middle but haven't got round to doing anything yet!

Courtney,
Regarding the switch, its a rotational switch on the end of
the wiper stalk. One click starts and stops the wiper, and
if you turn and hold it activates the wash/wipe.
Two things tho'..
1: No intermittent(speeling) wipe
2: The wiper motor restricts the access into the boot.

thanks for the help Dougie. are you talking about restricting access to the boot from the back seat as in a fold down back seat? i dont have one of those either. is the deck between the seat and the rear glass is that flat or does the wiper or anyother parts come out of that area through the deck lid? thanks again.

Courtney,
No I dont have a fold down back seat either, the problem
I have found is the wiper motor sticks down below that
small "parcel shelf" at the back window, and because of this
it restricts the access between the lower load level
(back fender) and the high load level just below the
back window.
That said i'm being a bit picky as its only large square loads
that this seems to affect.
ps edited to say there is a hole in the parcel shelf that the
wiper comes thru and it is covered by a plastic cowling.
