Just a quick one please
Just need to clarify/confirm this please from the insurers themselfs on here
Or anyone else know for a 'fact' and not just hearsay.
Basically if a car v5 is registered to me, can somebody like a friend/wife/family insure it on their name as the main driver? As I'm sure you have to be the registered keeper of vehicle.
Just a example here but if i bought a car for my wife/girlfriend etc and put my name on v5 (to make sure the asset stays with me) and let her drive it with her own insurance but it's not actually her car to own.
Or is the only way for them to be a named driver on my policy for said car?
See I have other cars and don't have the ncd as I have so would have to start a fresh on said car (I know some insurers mirror ncd for multiple cars, but that's not what the question is about)
Thanks in advance

It depends on the insurer.
Most will be ok if the car is in hubby's name but the wife insurers it, but they'd probably want you on you on there as a second driver.
Personally I'd decline a risk if the car was just registered to a friend, but according to one broker that could be done.... so always check with the individual insurer.

Thanks for that Gary as I knew it was a bit of a tricky one, obviously it would be family but your advise is speak to insurer and give them the lowdown first as I can see people will try this sort of scam to lower their premiums etc.
Tbh I was expecting a reply in working hours from you,,,,,,,,you will never rest will you
