Default Modification woes

Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone can help,

I have owned my current impreza, a version 3 type R for just over a year. I have my mods declared with my insurer, and spoke to them this evening about having a bigger turbo, front mount, 2.5 conversion etc. They have as I expected had a small panic and won't insure me if I do anything more.

I'm only 22, and pay a very reasonable quote as it is, but have been offered a fully forged 2.5 with an older MD series, front mount etc. Long shot but does anyone have any idea who would take me on with these mods, or am I up the creek without a paddle?

Cheers

Give Keith Michaels a go - speak to a guy called James. They are good and very understanding.

Keith michaels were brilliant before (on my
Previous impreza) but won't insure anyone under 25 now I'm afraid.

You could try Greenlight, A Plan and Sky too. They were all much cheaper for me at renewal time last year (about £400!) than KM, although once I'd spoken to KM and 'left it with them...', they managed to undercut all of them by a little.

Ask for Gary Moulson @ Keith Michaels, i deal with the Subaru's (we don't have a James)

Unfortunately in this case we'd probably be unable to help, as we are normally 25+ on Subaru's, but will consider 23+ with experience and limited mileage.

It's not something we can help with either I'm afraid, we are aged 24+ on all model Imprezas.

I think most insurers will only insure you on something like that when 25+

sorry for leaving this so long guys, managed to get cover in the end, all mods declared (the proper way!) and mods covered on a like for like basis. Thankyou all for your input and sorry the 'thank you' was late.

Any chance you could spill the beans on where you got insured? Mines coming up for renewal and I wanna do some cheeky modifications (well, just a remap and decat really) and I'm a bit worried with my lack of options. Elephant say 1 grand.. which I'm happy to pay, but much more than that I don't think they'll like!

You do realise most insurance companies wont cover a decat?

Of course they won't. "Modified exhaust system" then, if you prefer.
