Have you gone to your current insurer's website and asked for a quote, as if you were a new customer?
Believe it or not I saved about £170 by doing that.
I was with a very well known company and they upped my renewal by about £100 (despite extra NCD etc), to £720 so I went on their website, input all my details and got a quote for £550 !
I took a print and saved the quote, then rang through to renew.
Took a couple of hours to sort it (not on the phone as such, the agent couldn't explain and went through to their supervisor, who asked for a copy, which I emailed and they then called me back).
A mate of mine was with a major motoring organisation and they suddenly upped his - for no reason - by about £200. £500+ for a Cavalier (this is only about 5 years ago).
He got a quote from somewhere for £220, rang and informed his company that he wasn't renewing and they offered to match his quote.
He told them to bu&&er off because they could have done that originally.
Anyway, recommendation is always a good thing and Keith Michaels/Moley were recommended to me.
They got me a deal for about £60 less than Admiral were quoting, on renewal.
They are also very efficient.
The Insurance Underwriters they've insured me with (KM is a brokers) have been slightly awkward about my NCD because I SORNed my previous car when the Tax ran out, and then didn't renew the insurance prior to selling the car, so I actually had no need for insurance for almost a year, and I've had to go to VOSA to get confirmation of the SORN and change of owner.
Keith Michaels have kept in touch and done quite a bit of too-ing and fro-ing.
I'm happy with them.

I used Adrian Flux for my Westfield and I have heard some horror stories from other people with them but I've never made a claim and found out for myself.
I have been using Greenlight for the scooby for 4 years but have just switched to A plan, both are similar in price (A plan slightly cheaper). Again I can't comment on claims as I haven't had any but I would recommend either on my experiences to date

Seeing as direct line, admiral, and the like don't seem to understand ppp then when I add on the remap the price go's silly as in my 05sti £360 ish add ppp go's to £580ish add remap go's to £750 ish or not able to cover due to adding 20% hp over standard these price I got from on line quotes for me in my car this year
My renewal this year all mods listed £550. £30 cheaper than last year
