Default Insuring two vehicles

I am nearly 40, with 18 years no claim.
What the best way to insure the subaru( Sunday driving etc) and a standard ford ( still drove only about 6 k miles a year)
Just myself to insure( at present I only own the ford)
Regards

Limit your mileage and insure for what you use. i.e. if you use the car for 6000 miles a year insure for that. Declare use of second car if you have access.

I have lots of ncd but it only counts up to 9 years although other insurers may go further than that , with 9 years and 6000 miles i paid 233 quid fully comp protected for my 13 plate wrx sti. Insurer - Privilege - excess mandatory 650 quid. Wife on policy too.

In confused.com and comparethemeerkat around the same even for CS400.

Prior to 50 years old i was around 500 quid with unlimited mileage 2006 wrx sti.

I should add that you need to have two lots of no claims discount, one set for each car. I insure my two cars through different insurers but some, like Privilege allow you to insure another car using the same NCD as long as both cars are with them.

Unortunately thats not true, if you have an accident you have to report it to all your insurance companies. Then they ream you accordingly or how they feel like it. My son crashed my car, my motorbike insurance nearly didnt renew as i hadnt reported it to them. (i was abroad.)

I then had to declare the accident on all policies, although i dont feel i was charged much more. The problem is that although my son crashed the car, it looked that i had as when you declare you dont have an option to declare someone else as having the accident.

Anyway thats all behind us now

I had an admiral multicar policy and someone hit the rear of one of my cars on the M1. Had to declare on both polices (I've since separated the polices) and get stiffed on both even though it wasn't my fault!

I pay £670 Fully Comp on an 06 Hawk WRX with 7 years no claims. (Bad postcode for car crime...)

Insurance companies have got you by the short and curly ones.

Proper sucks doesn't it?

How insurance companies can justify raising your premiums because someone else is incapable of driving properly is beyond me!

Put me off work for 5 weeks with a duff back too.

I pay more now than i did when i was 18, back then i was young and silly and had an rs turbo for my first car
Now im old (36) lol a truck driver so very sensible, never had an accident (touch wood) and 18 years no claims it just dont make any sense
Ive put my old diesel runnabout off the road too as insuring 2 cars was just crazy money.

Thankfully only a minority of insurers load for non-fault settled claims. Unfortunately one insurer who does is the largest private car insurance group in the UK.
