Good question, I would be interested in that as well. I know a lot of people say "just phone the insurance company" but I have had them say, "I dont know but we charge £40 for 'extras'". That was Norwich Union when they were around.

You're kidding me? I never declared mine. I declared everything else though. What happened?

In theory any modification should be declared - no matter how small, but none of those mods would make any difference to the premium.

As above, declare any change, let your insurer do the rest. Omitting modification details (even minor) can end in disaster. None of the modifications in the original post will effect premium if you picked your insurer wisely.

I read an ombudsman intervention case where a young lad crashed his car and the insurance company refused to pay out due to undeclared mods. The mods were spoilers and front lip. The insurance company was made to pay out a proportionate amount of the claim as it was not related to the claim, eg. If the mods added 50% on to the premium they would need to 2/3rds of the claim as that was what was paid for already. If the claim had been for theft or something related the mod then they would not have had to have paid out anything.

I know this is an individual case but it made interesting reading.
