Default Who's best for a low mileage policy?

Had my STI just over two years now and due to company car it did probably less than a thousand miles last year and spends 99.9% of it's time locked away in the garage.

My insurance is due next week and currently with Sky ins. The renewal is £679 or there abouts, about the same as the first year with them.

Guess I'm getting old now but it just seems a lot to pay for something that gets used once a month or so! I'm 35 and a sensible family man with a yound lad that is usually always wih me.

I'd like to get some sort of low mileage social only policy, does anyone on here have something tailored around this type of useage?

My mrs has a uk turbo and we're obviously both on that, that's used every day for her, commuting too and we pay about £400 on that.

I'd like to think a policy could be had for around the cost of the uk car's insurance considering the pampered life and minimal use on the sti.

Feasible? Or do I need to keep swallowing this Japanese import tax

Thats the same renewal price i've just recieved, must be a random figure they throw out as its around £100 up on last year, i do on average 700 mile P/A, i'll be canceling my cover with sky, and phoning round Edit to add, i think £1 a mile for insurance is taking the p!ss abit.

Do your self a favour mate.
Don't even bother with Keith Michaels.
Never in all my life have I come across a company like this.
In this current climate, recession and all you would think companies would be bending over backwards to do business.

SKY INSURANCE, brilliant, can't do enough for you, highly recommemded and treat you like a person, unlike Keith Michaels.

You could say mate.
It got to the point were I was sat in my car after picking it up from API with no insurance waiting for a call back and not being able to get through, being put on hold and when finally got put through to then get put straight to voice mail.
They knew the situation, when needed insurance and when I was picking car up but yet nothing.
O sorry I do tell a lie, after siting in the car for about half hr waiting for the promised call back, I rang sky up and sorted a very good deals with them, and guess what, yes you guessed it, the promised call back, only to tell me( in a very sort of, who gives a toss anyway attitude) cant beat your best price and good bye!
Something which they could have told me two wks earlier when did actually speak to them.

Very very bad customer service indeed.

Thanks for f**k all Keith Michael.

Hello mate,

Are you using your ncd on this car, as when they try to rip you off next year and you leave, the max ncd they will give is 5 years, even if you came with 20 years ncd.

I used to work there, and they never tell you this on the phone.

when we had to phone other companies to check a customer's ncd, the would for example say 10 yrs if the customer has that, we were told that if customers complain about recieving less ncd than what they came with, we were told to say"we give the maximum ncd at 5 yrs", to fob them off.

It's not actually fobbing people off though, the maximum discounts only apply up to 5 years.
You can earn up to 9 years, but most companies will give the maximum discount at 5 years
