Quick Insurance question
Just before Christmas I was driving my dads car and had a minor accident . Dad has me listed as a named driver on his insurance so it's all above board....
I was driving home when we were hit with a few hours of snow so was driving slow, unfortunately the young driver in front started to brake when the car was skidding, I turned to avoid but clipped the rear or her car. No one was hurt, minor damage to her car and front end damage to my dads car.
Dad called his insurance who arranged collection of the car but it was declared as a total loss. Received a cheque from them, lost 2 years no claims and paid the £150 excess. Dad was happy with the pay out, the other party has claimed for their damage but insurance company has delt with that so all sorted........
Happy New Year.....
My insurance on the scoob is due on Tuesday and I was wondering if I need to declare this accident to them, even though it has been sorted out on my dads policy?
Many thanks....

AFAIK it's the policy holder that takes the risks / and takes the NCB loss. You havn't made a claim on any insurance policy, that was your dad.
That's the way I read it but may be wrong as insurance companies seem to make up their own rules..

Yep, you need to tell them.
Although the accident wasn't on your own policy there will still be a claim logged against you as the driver on the CUE (claims underwriting exchange) database.
If you don't tell your insurers it could invalidate your policy
