Yoof's!! And Turbo Imports!!!!
I am going kick start this old one again . . .
Im going to be 20 in august this year. . My current insurance run's out in February next year on my Leon. Im looking at insuring the 93 Wrx next year if it's feasible to. Or maybe just at weekend's or track-day's if such policies exist.
93 Import wrx, silver ( will have new engine for reliability purposes not big power, brake's and suspension. Slight mods in exhaust, fmic, air filter)
Currently Sorn. Viper Alarm system (will get tracker)
Would be parked every night in a locked garage next to my house.
Postcode: AB53 8** ..very remote area in Aberdeenshire
20 Year's old,1 year No claim's Bonus
.Limited mileage of about 7k absolute maximum (1000 of witch be running in mile's)
Member of several car club's ( Subaru's, Audi Quattro,Ford Rs turbo)
Own several performance car's for restoration's or rebuilds
Stand exterior apart from sti spoiler
All mod's declared
What im wondering is what sort of figure i be expecting to pay for fully comprehensive insurance at about that time. What option's are open to me regarding Weekend only insurance/Limited mileage insurance. Or even possible classic car insurance as the scoob's getting to that sort of age now.
Im not wishing to start a debate on whether i should/shouldn't be allowed to drive such and such a car till im 25. who are better driver's ETC ETC.
Thank's for your time
Also anyone similar age, ncb, car, location quote's. and who your with. Always good to compare like

Sorry but its always been this way, its not age so much it`s experience. It would be the same for a 25 year old with licence for 3 years and 1 year NCB. But the 25 year old is statistically less likely to want to show off and or race. Not saying its not possible as we have oldies trying that still.
Its all down to statistics and they don`t look good.
But seriously get it insured with someone else and you go on as a named driver. As long as you are insured to drive the vehicle thats all that matters, but the car will have to be registered in their name (ownership is nothing to do with registered keeper).
But even then be prepared to bend over and touch your toes!

Moley wouldn't quote because I hadn't owned a big turbo import before - call back next year. Fair enough

A-Plan quoted, got me a decent price
Give them a call. They will get you a price; you won't like it, but they will get one

Not what you want to hear but an Import WRX, i haven't heard of person under 25 insured on one of them!
As far as i'm aware to even tap the reg in on an insurance site, it wouldn't bring it up and would ask you to call, and then they would say 25.
I was 23 when i got insured on my UK turbo, i was lucky enough to get insured on eCar for £1800, i think Elephant and Admiral would also insure me but for slightly more around £2200, other than that i was doomed, at least for 2 more years.
The year after Gary from Keith Michaels got me a nice quote for £1500 with a couple non power mods.
At 23 eCar was also happy to insure me on a newage UK WRX for around £3000.
Couldn't get insured on anything else though.
Not fancy a UK turbo?
Or wait till you are 25, which i wasn't willing to do, and besides i knew i could/can make a UK turbo rapid still.
Thanks
Sam

Hate to say it mate you may struggle big time.
I was 21 (3 weeks before 22) when i got my 06 hawk.
licence for 5 years
3 years NCB
3 points for using a phone
and both parents as named drivers, clean licences 20+ years, no crashes.
£2800 from admiral with no mods!!!
ive been messing with quotes for 95-2000 classic uk and imports. The uk's are coming out at around £3400 imports are around 400 more.
As soon as you put mods on your either going to be torn apart or laughed at until the call ends.
Doesnt look like ill be picking up a classic because of this very reason.
Good Luck.

Thanks guy's. . . I was toying of selling the WRX for a Uk turbo 2000 . . But then again common sense failed to kick off. .Then looked into idea's of being a named driver on the impreza (mother as main driver)..Got quotes back of 994!!!!
Mums been driving over 15 years. 10 years no claims, (Protected) 1 non fault accident over 4 years ago (AB postcode) Private Driveway
Me 1 years no claims. . . 21. . .
Came back at £994. . Surely that cant be right!!
Ill keep my little leon insured in my own name as ill use that as a main car/winter car, Also help with the no claim's and end up using the impreza sparingly

Not worth it mate, just pay the price for appropriate cover, either way they've got you by the bollocks!
