Default FAO Moley......insurance claim for our family car :)

Hi Gary

As well as my 400 BHP Bugeye being insured with you so is our Citroen C8 Family car (cracking price )

A local coach company minibus clipped the front end of our Picasso whilst he was dropping off some shopping for his daughter. No personal injury but damage to our car and the minibus, and the incident was witnessed by my wife and others and he admitted liability.

This being Cumbria ( a very small world) the company owner is known to us as they used to transport our kids to school before we moved.

After a phone call, the minibus owner wants to sort it out "by the book" through our respective insurance companies......fair enough.

A phone call to Keith Michaels by my wife was transferred to some claims department who wanted to know about claims for personal injury, medical reports and lawyers fees paid for by no win no fee contracts !

As there were no injuries I'm not interested in persuing any claim for hospital treatment, injuries, damages, lawyers fees, sole rights for taking legal action........to which my wife agreed to do apparantly

I just wanted to know how to arrange a courtesy car while the Citroen C8 is off the road and how to try and mitigate any further increase in my insurance / loss of no claims bonus.

Any help you could offer would be most welcome

Shaun

Hi mate

Unfortunatley these days as soon as a claim is reported lots of clients ask about PI before they even ask about the repairs, so taking details is part of the course.

Our claims guys will get you a courtesy car sorted - ring 0845 5311369, or pm me your number and i'll get them to call you.

Hi Gary

Thanks for the prompt reply

I understand about the PI thing, I guess it's a reflection of the world we live in. I wonder if Laura can claim whiplash even though she was stood on the kerb talking to her maths teacher LOL

I'll get Laura to call

Cheers

Nothing will happen to your NCB (it will remain intact), as it wasn't your fault at all, and there is a 3rd party to claim off of.

Hi Gary

We have just had a pile of stuff from Winn Solicitors in Newcastle saying we have asked them to represent them in our claim.........reading through it we might be liable for their fees and disbursements.

What's it all about?? are they your solicitors ? have your claims department sent our stuff to a solicitor?

Do we need a solicitor to make a claim, can't we just leave the matter with you?

Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to get tangled up with solicitors and fees etc.

Cheers

Hi mate

You can ignore that.... it's the legal crap they have to send by law, once again to cover the PI issues (you'll be amazed how many people realise they have whiplash after chatting to their mates in the pub).

I think it is also to cover themselves with the hire car.
There have been times in the past that a claim is reported, a courtesy car is provided, and the claim is then withdrawn after a week..... which just so happened to be the week the family went on a driving holiday

They have to be careful, as they have been stung in the past.

Feel free to call or pm me if you want to go through the details

Hi Gary

I can't ignore it as they say they are dealing with the Claim and they have contacted the Bodyshop here in Carlisle (David Hayton).........The Guy at David Hayton said he would send the quotes to the Solicitors. !!

I'm just trying to sort out who is dealing with my claim..... Your Claims team at Keith Michels.......or the firm of solicitors who have contacted me?

Cheers

You shouldn't have any problems at all, they're a good bunch.

If you do get stuck though get in touch with me.
