Insurance for 17 year od?
My niece is about to take to the road, first lesson this week. Very worrying but even more so is the fact that insurance is so bleddy expensive. Now I know it's *always been so* but where have people found the cheapest for a 17 year old girlie?
Brief details: Renault Clio 1.2 petrol, c. £2K ('51' or '52' plate) in a TR9 postcode (west Cornwall). Car parked on drive. Fully comp.
Any tips?

This, in case you weren't aware is the fronting i refered to and is blinking stupid if not illegal. At any rate, its essentially fraud and as moley says, she won't get paid out if she crashes.

..... and that'll be the least of your problems if she hits someone, they claim personal injusy, and the insurers come after your daughter for the payout.
Not worth the risk.
It work in the old days, but the insurers have wised up now and aren't letting people get away with it any more.

Dave, £850 is a damned good price for a 17ye old driver, I dont think you will get it much lower unless she does a pass plus course (or has she done that already?).
Good luck anyway

I think their quotes ranged from about £2.5K down to this one ... I'll let them know they're unlikely to get lower then. They won't be sorry to pay this as they're getting fed up on the phone for so long ....
