Keith Michaels I can't get hold of Mouly!!! A-plan just said they couldn't beat the quote from Adrian Flux which was £440. Next best was Insurance Choice at £470 but Swinton came in at £420 fully comp with my wife on it too, £350 excess, all glass and windscreen, keys, legal, courtesy car and no need to prove my security..
They will know it's an import from the reg I recon if they don't and you then kill someone you wont be insured once the old bill have checked it out..

The reason insurance is so high (out of my first 4 cars, 3 were Scoobs after passing my test at 21) is because classic imports are group 20 and UK cars are 17. Scoobs are desirable cars to the chavs, twocers etc and this also bumps prices up as more claims will be made. That and more & more young guns are defrauding the system by doing as you suggested, ie.e claiming as a second driver not the main driver or insuring it incorrectly. Regardless of whats in the logbook, if the cars a WRX insure it as a WRX
Try Moley at Keith Michaels (insurance section where this SHOULD be). He may be able to help, but it's usually experience dependant.
That or get a UK car. As Above when I passed my test in '06 I had a Sport which was £1600 tp f&t, a WRX which was £2500 fully comp and then my old UK Turbo which was £1750 fully comp. The UK turbo was bought with only 9 months driving experience (was 22 at the time of buying), so no NCB and was fully declared... mods the lot. This was through Ecar but they only insure upto group 17 so I squeezed in
Have fun searching but please, please don't deliberately bunk on your insurance; police check forums for such behaviour and there are some insurance guys on here too who will certainly not touch you if you play like that.
