Question AVIVA - any good? RAC - any good?

Aviva have quoted me £253, declaring an accident prone spouse, backbox and Business Use.

I used them when they were NU and weren't bad ... anyone with any recent experience?

The RAC are coming up with good cover for £300 - again, anyone any experience?

A few years ago the best was NFU - these seem to have disappeared off the best buy lists.

RAC are a broker (IIRC), so there is a very good chance their price will be through Aviva aswell.

The RAC didn't say who the Insurance Company would be - at least I couldn't see it anywhere.

I'm with Admiral at the moment, who quoted me £312 - until I told them that my wife had a small (£800) knock with another motorist - they then slapped an extra £62 on!

The wife has never driven the Impreza in the 9 1/2 years I have owned it ..... but, she is there 'in case'.

Sods law you'd do it without her on the policy, then she'd need to drive it!!!

Probably, i don't recognise them as an insurer.

You'll probably find that'll be with Aviva aswell if they are a broker. (or Groupama, they are the only 2 companies i know of who'll drop below £300 on an Impreza)

Just done a search on reviews from First Central ... they don't get good reviews.

I don't mind paying more for decent customer service and good cover, my search goes on

The reviews show NFU as outstanding - they were always the company of choice for Subaru Owners (obviously something to do with Farmers owning them) .... they must have got their fingers burnt when the Impreza's started getting wrapped around trees on a regular basis?

FWIW if you like looking at reviews of companies have a look at Chubb Insurance.

Unfortunately i don't think that they are keen on Subaru's, which is a shame when you see how good they are.

Best company by far IMO

Cheers .... I've just depressed myself looking at how bad 'most' Insurance Companies are reported to be

I've asked NFU to call me - see what they can do.

£253!!!!!! That makes me feel slightly sick.......

Are you 54 years old and only do 762 miles a year? Have your own personal security guard for your car perhaps?

If any insurance company (with a half decent reputation) gave me a quote that low i'd rip their arms off!!

Holy Crap!!!

You are so close to the truth it's not true ..... between the hours of 9am and 6:30pm on a Monday through to Friday my car is, indeed, as secure as any car in the UK can be. It is protected by a double layer of high security fencing, 1,000 CCTV Cameras - monitored by a huge team of crack armed guards, the SAS test the security on a regular basis, armed Police guards at every exit and entry point and further security arrangements which would make an Insurance Company smile

They are and a panel supports behind Aviva for the RAC brand. Panel is adminstered by BISL but all calls are handled in RAC contact centres.

OK, thanks.

Still looking, waiting to find out what NFU will do - I know they have a very strong following, at my age you want Customer Service above all else (unless it costs too much extra, of course )

NFU want £430 - I would like to use them instead of AVIVA because they are legendary with Customer Service.

BUT it's a high price to pay - after all, most years you pay your money and have no contact whatsoever with the Insurance Company chosen ..........
